| Green Econ Brings New Jobs & Challenges |
Not only will new fields of employment open up as green technologies take hold here according to speakers at the April 6 conference “Prospering in the Green Economy,” but the new technologies will challenge current zoning codes, as well as the status quo in banking, real estate and building industries.
An audience of 100 attended the conference sponsored by the Orange County Citizens Foundation. Geo-thermal power, energy harnessed from waste, wind turbines, solar appliances: each of these new technologies brings with it new jobs: growth is predicted in fields such as engineering, heating and air conditioning, marketing and manufacturing.
The localization of energy will be a huge positive of the green wave. Paul Auerbach explained that “renewable geo-thermal energy is right beneath your feet: no fossil fuels involved.” His company Total Green LLC installs geothermal for heating, cooling and hot water in residential and commercial applications in the tri-state region.
