The Houston Family Enjoy a Day of Hiking View Slide Show

The Citizens Foundation sponsored a hike from Cascade Lake Park to Grand View on the Appalachian Trail overlooking Greenwood Lake and Wanaque Reservoir on Saturday, August 1st. The hike was led by Citizens Foundation Trustee Bob Krahulik, who escorted 60 adults and children to the Town of Warwick Park trail, giving the history of the Park along the way. Former Town of Warwick Supervisor Tony Houston was in attendance and explained that the Town purchased the property during his tenure to avoid construction of hundreds of homes. The Carlotta family of Warwick had also been instrumental in the Town purchase, Mr. Houston explained. After the trek, hikers enjoyed a picnic at Bellvale Farms, where they were treated to Bellvale Creamery ice cream and tours of the dairy farm’s barns and operation. Transportation for the day was donated by Mid-City Transit.
