On Wednesday, July 9th, the Citizens Foundation hosted a breakfast focusing on municipal shared services and government efficiency. Dr. Gerry Benjamin from SUNY New Paltz and Mr. Jonathan Drapkin from Pattern for Progress, both of whom served on the NYS Government Efficiency and Competitiveness Task Force in 2007, were the keynote speakers. They discussed task force work and final recommendations. As a follow-up to the Task Force, Pattern for Progress is developing a regional task force, headed by Orange County Executive Ed Diana, to find ways to share services and increase government efficiency. The breakfast was sponsored by Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union and was held at the offices of the Citizens Foundation, located at the Seligmann Homestead in Sugar Loaf. The forum was part of AM Focus Forum - a series of breakfast meetings the Citizens Foundation is hosting to bring innovative and valuable ideas to the forefront of our efforts.
